Good grief.

...and after six months of hearing "women's media" (when I'm unfortunate enough to be subjected to it--please don't think I consume it on purpose!) swoon over how Michelle Obama has such style and such fashion flair, it was really funny to see her wearing a 40-year-old bathrobe made out of upholstery.

I kinda dug the polyester matelasse--I didn't know anyone still made it. I'm assuming they chose it because it was a popular fabric when Jacqueline Bouvier was still setting fashion trends. And then it died out. For a reason. Just like Harvest Gold died out...

I favored Avocado myself. Or was it Avogadro? Or avoirdupois? Anyway, it was groovy!

I thought she pulled it off rather well, although she didn't look nearly as cool as her daughter in the peach. I mean, how many 7 year olds can pull off light orange?:)

It was perfect for her. Looked like a couch slipcover. I read someone's comment somewhere that she didn't need her green Jimmy Choo shoes, but end tables instead. As for her dress to the ball afterward? What the heck was it?!? Looked like the remains from a parade float - tissue paper carnations. There is nothing that she is going to be able to drape on herself that is going to make her exude class, or beauty, or grace. Some women have it [Jackie O., Laura B., Sarah Palin], and some women don't - she is one of them.

I haven't seen the ball dress yet, but God help us all if women's fashion is going to be "influenced" for the next 8-10 years by someone who can't tell when her "designer" is playing a practical joke.
