Interesting, not in a good way.

Can't say I'm surprised. Gays sentenced to death in Iraq for crime of homosexuality. I'm not sure why people expected differently; even if the government was completely secular, the people voting for its members aren't. Not that UK Gay News will note there's a reason homosexuality is a crime in the region...or maybe in the UK they legally can't.

(And of course, the commenters can't seem to figure out which religion it is that wants to kill them.)

The MO seems to be that Christians *would* kill them if they could get away with it. All the have to cite is that moron Fred Phelps and the nutters in his "church" (read: his equally-moronic family) as "proof."

Meanwhile, a majority of Christian leadership - including the Pope - have not, never have, and never will condoned endorsed, or cited a scriptural basis for murdering homosexuals. It's wrong, and a violation of "Thou shall not murder." That should make it clear.

On the other hand, you not only have prominent Muslim clergy and politicians condoning the murder of gays, but religious teaching that supports and condones it.

Congitive impairment, anyone?

I really resent that Fred Phelps is out there making himself a "face" of Christianity. I realize this is unChristian...

I think it's some sort of psychological defense. Projection (there certainly seem to be a lot of gays who have no qualms about destroying churches, assaulting Christians), or displacement.
